Info for This Week

A few things:

  1. We will have a mandatory team meeting on Monday, after school, in the audition room. Expect to stay until at least 3:45. (You may be there longer, though.)

  2. See this PDF which lists the number of 30-minute practices you have this week and the coach with whom you have practice. Essentially, the top seed in each event has two rehearsals with his/her coach while everybody else has one. (There are a couple exceptions to this, though.)

  3. Your first comment should have been approved, which means you’re now able to pick a rehearsal time. At noon today (Sunday), the coaches will post their availability schedule for the week. In the comment section for your coach (check the roster if you’re unsure who that is), pick the slot(s) during which you wish to rehearse. It’s first come, first serve! Earlier commenter gets priority and you can only choose from the remaining times. Varsity members, if you can, please TRY NOT to schedule rehearsals back to back. This will give you time to reflect and rehearse before coming back to your coach.

  4. If you saw the PDF sheet — which you should have since that was #2 on this list — you’ve noticed something called a category rehearsal. The first category meeting for everyone will take place on Monday, after the team meeting.

  5. The top seed in each event is going to compete this coming Saturday! That’s less than a week away! Second strings compete the following week. Everyone competes the week after that! All the info for the upcoming tournament will be announced at the meeting, but you can see the schedule for yourself in the calendar in the right sidebar of this site.

  6. Reading the PDF: Look for your name. In rows next to your name, there will be numbers. If you look up the column your number is in, there are initials. That those initials correspond with the coach you will be with, and the numbers are how many times you are with that coach. For instance, if you have a  1 under CR and 1 under BL, that menas that you have one rehearsal with your category and one with Blanchard. Please double check this so you are not signing up for the wrong coach, which will take spots from those who need it. Also, check this pdf weekly, as your coach and number may change.

  7. Practice, practice, practice.

The 2009-2010 NVHS Speech Team

The team has been posted here! Congratulations to everyone who made it and many thanks to everyone who tried out. It’s never easy choosing from so many of you, and if you didn’t make it, we hope you will consider trying out again next year.

Important information regarding our first team meeting will be posted here by Sunday, so please check back frequently!

In the meantime, if you are on the team, we need to make sure you are registered on this website so you can select your rehearsal times.

All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, using your real name and your regular email address. You don’t need to fill in the website line. (Please leave the comment, “I’m excited to be a part of the NVHS Speech Team” or something to that extent.)

Once your comment has been approved by me, you should be able to comment freely in the future.
