Rehearsal Schematic

Here is this week’s schematic!

Hey all!

As we wind down from our mini-break, it’s time to start thinking tournament and Winter Break mode.

Tournament This week

Rehearsals

As the coaches are very busy preparing for around 30 schools to descend upon us on Saturday, we will only be having double rehearsals with a few members. I’m trying to keep the rotation fair, so BE SURE TO CHECK THE SCHEMATIC BEFORE signing up. You may have a different coach and different number this week. If there is a problem, please DO NOT sign up. Contact a coach. Posting that there’s a problem 15 times will not get anything solved, and coaches don’t have the space for mix-ups.

BABIES:  You MUST bring critiques from your tournament to rehearsals, or you will be turned away!

Conflicts

Those who are not attending will not be getting rehearsals this week; however, make sure to keep working! This isn’t a punishment. We are merely trying to conserve space in such a busy week.

If you have conflicts, please be sure to contact me. I know a lot of people have Crystal and Y&G. I believe for Crystal, you can still help us out directly after school, as your call time isn’t until 5 or so. I promise, you won’t be here that long for set-up. Either way, contact me again, so I can make sure my list is updated.

Set-up

Meet in B104 at 2:45 on Friday for instructions. You will be teamed off based on your category, and the main thing we need to get done is rooms. After rooms and cafeterias are done, we will release a large part of the team, and the remaining folk will help stuff registration packets. I anticipate us getting our by 5-6. Again, if you contact me, you will be allowed to leave, but CHECK OUT with a coach. Don’t just leave.

Thanks to Mehta for putting up our picture! It’s so cute!

I promise (as I always do…but then you wait) point board will be up soon.

Last week, captains picked a Geek of the Week. I would like to announce my geek of the week: JANELLE BROOKS… On her very first tournament, she actually biked all the way to school at 4:30 in the morning. THAT’S dedication! Sorry captains, but I win!

I look forward to getting back into the swing of things. I anticipate your rest and relaxation this weekend will give you some new energy in your pieces!

Weekend Wildchat

Here is the Wildchat from last weekend!

Read it and love it. Have a good break 🙂

Parent E-Mail Addresses

Good morning, Speech Team!

With our tournament coming up quickly, we are in need of donations from your families – food (candy, chips, cream cheese), drinks (water, pop), and time (to sell concessions). If your parents were unable to attend Open House on Monday but are still interested in helping out with our December 5th tournament, please send me their e-mail addresses (erin_blanchard@ipsd.org). I will be contacting parents this weekend.

If your parents are unable to help on December 5th, please keep in mind that we are hosting regionals in February, and we will need your parents’ help with that, too!

So practice, relax, and enjoy your Thanksgivings! 🙂

Hey all!

I just have to say, I am so incredibly proud and thankful of you all. What a fantastic way to head into the short holiday break and show what our full team is capable of! We had multiple babies break into novice finals, and several varsity members showing in finals as well. In fact, our varsity members were a mere 5 points. I believe that this comes down to the hard work and dedication of both the varsity and jv teams.

Varsity, thank you for stepping up and taking the time to teach the younger members what the coaches usually have to teach. For that, we are so thankful, because we were able to use every minute in preparation of a tournament that comes a good two weeks before new members usually compete!

JV, thank you for taking the extra rehearsals, working through the overwhelming frantic pace of trying to get ready in a short amount of time. I am so thankful, because this shows us that we can rely on those who are double entered and inexperienced. Believe me, I was concerned as to whether or not we’d be ready. And we were SO ready!

Coming this week, we will update with specific placements, first in rounds, and finally (and hopefully), the point board….I’m still trying to figure out how to get it up logistically.

OPEN HOUSE     CORRECTION!!!!

Also, we DO NOT have rehearsals this week. However, we do have our Open House. Please remember that this is a mandatory meeting and is part of the four pillars. Some gave me conflicts on their sheets, but keep up the communication! I know that every year, our members have a wonderful time eating, enjoying eachother’s performances, and showing our parents what it is we actually do.

Please be in B104 after school AT 5:30 for a meeting. Please also remember that every category is to bring specific snacks. Please check out the flyer to see which snack you should bring. And finally, PLEASE invite your family. You’ve gone out to a tourney, you’ve all had success, because you are doing something that a large majority of America is too scared to do — communicate in front of an audience. Take this time to show it to the ones you love.

Here is the main information for Monday night’s Open House!

Make sure you look at what refreshments we are asking you to bring!

Remember for this Weekend

Hey All!

Just some things to remember for this weekend!

  • Bring a copy of your script just in case
  • Bring a writing utensil
  • Bring water
  • Sleep the night before
  • Be on time for the bus

For those JV going out to their first tournament of the season good luck! Don’t sweat the small stuff, and remember that every round counts! So if you think you did bad one round don’t carry that negative energy throughout the day, stay positive and remember that you’ve all worked very hard to get where you are and will continue to grow throughout the season.

Note: If you have to get in contact with a coach or have any questions tomorrow or any other day contact one of the captains at either our e-mail (nvspeech09@yahoo.com) or by phone an e-mail was sent with the numbers of all 4 of us.

Good Luck Tomorrow! And Don’t forget to remind your parents and relatives about Open House on Monday!

The roster for this weekend’s tournaments is here.

Check to make sure you’re going where you should be going!

Thornton people: Bus leaves at 5:30. Be there early.

Plainfield people: Bus leaves at 7:00. Be there early.

Also, here is the information you need to give your parents regarding Open House this Monday night!
