Hello All:

Welcome to a new speech season. This week, I will meet with full categories so that I know what everyone is planning for the season. Category Leaders: Please signup for a timeslot and make sure the entire category knows to be there at the designated time you select. Everyone must bring to the meeting scripts and notes about what you will be doing with this script. I should not hear “I don’t have a script yet” as that is not an acceptable response.

FYI, all the acting categories (and maybe Prose) need to keep Friday, Nov, 8th from 4-6:30pm free. We will be have an acting workshop that day. You need to attend. More information to come from Mason and/or Pontarelli. Thanks!

October 18 has now come and gone, and too many people have not submitted insurance forms and/or activity fees.

Effective Monday, Oct. 21, if you do not have your forms and fee handed in directly to La Scola at the team meeting, you will be unable to participate in further rehearsals until which time you have paid and submitted the forms. This goes for Category Leaders as well. As Leaders on this team, it is expected that you behave as Leaders, which includes paying your fees and filling out the insurance forms. This ban will carry over to the meet on Nov. 2 if no paperwork or activity fees are received.

This is your last warning.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday after school! (Monday is a holiday.)

Remember: Tuesday, October 29th will be Novice Night and Parent Night! Keep that evening open on your calendars!

Congratulations to everyone who made it and many thanks to the more-than-125 of you who tried out. It’s never easy choosing from so many of you, and if you didn’t make it, we hope you will consider trying out again next year.

To those who made it, four things:

1) Our first meeting is Monday afternoon at 2:45p in D219. This meeting is mandatory — if there are any problems with attending, you *must* contact Mr. Mehta.

2) We need to make sure you are registered on this website so you can eventually sign up for rehearsal times. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post using your real name and your regular email address. (You don’t need to fill in the website line.) Just leave the comment “Save the drama for the llama!” and I’ll approve you ASAP.

3) You and your parents must read this packet, sign the appropriate forms, and bring the Activity Fee check to the Monday meeting!

4) If you are a Category Leader, please make plans to stay after the Monday meeting until about 3:45!

For anyone interested in learning more about Speech Team and auditioning for it, here are the dates you need to know!

If you’re new to the team, you should come to ONE of the following informational meetings!

Auditions will take place Wednesday, Sep. 25 (starting at 3:00p) and Thursday, Sep. 26 (starting at 2:45p) in D219. You only need to come on ONE of those days and you don’t need to prepare anything. We’ll have scripts ready for you to use.

For anyone interested in attending the Neuqua Valley Speech Team Summer Camp, you can download the application here (PDF)!

The camp is for current team members, incoming freshmen, and anyone else interested in learning more about public speaking.

A few things to note:

• The camp will take place August 5^th-9^th from 8:00-11:00a
• The activities at camp will change from the past. We’re still working out the exact details, but rest assured these changes will benefit everybody!
• The cost is $175 and all checks should be made out to Wildcat Speech.
• If you are interested in attending, please let me know ahead of time so I can get the appropriate amount of materials.

The banquet is this Thursday night starting at 5:30p. It’ll take place at Tamarack Golf Club (just like last year). You should have already turned in your money!

Dinner will include pizza/pasta/brownies/cookies and we should be done by 8:30p.
