The team has been posted here (PDF)!

Congratulations to everyone who made it and many thanks to the more-than-125 of you who tried out. It’s never easy choosing from so many of you, and if you didn’t make it, we hope you will consider trying out again next year.

To those who made it, four things:

1) Our first meeting is Monday afternoon at 2:45p in D219. This meeting is mandatory — if there are any problems with attending, you *must* contact Mr. Mehta.

2) We need to make sure you are registered on this website so you can eventually sign up for rehearsal times. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post using your real name and your regular email address. (You don’t need to fill in the website line.) Just leave the comment “Save the drama for the llama!” and I’ll approve you ASAP.

3) You and your parents must read this packet, sign the appropriate forms, and bring the Activity Fee check to the Monday meeting!

4) If you are a Category Leader, please make plans to stay after the Monday meeting until about 3:45!

Thanks for your cooperation and congratulations to everyone!

For anyone interested in learning more about Speech Team and auditioning for it, here are the dates you need to know!

If you’re new to the team, you should come to ONE of the following informational meetings!

2:45p, Monday, September 23, in the Main Campus LMC

2:45p, Tuesday, September 24, in the Gold Campus Forum Room

Auditions will take place Wednesday, Sep. 25 (starting at 3:00p) and Thursday, Sep. 26 (starting at 2:45p) in D219. You only need to come on ONE of those days and you don’t need to prepare anything. We’ll have scripts ready for you to use.

You will need to read the audition packet and fill out The Form! All of that information can be found here.

As always, contact Coach Mehta if you have any questions.

For anyone interested in attending the Neuqua Valley Speech Team Summer Camp, you can download the application here (PDF)!

The camp is for current team members, incoming freshmen, and anyone else interested in learning more about public speaking.

A few things to note:

  • The camp will take place August 5th-9th from 8:00-11:00a
  • The activities at camp will change from the past. We’re still working out the exact details, but rest assured these changes will benefit everybody!
  • The cost is $175 and all checks should be made out to Wildcat Speech.
  • If you are interested in attending, please let me know ahead of time so I can get the appropriate amount of materials.

The banquet is this Thursday night starting at 5:30p. It’ll take place at Tamarack Golf Club (just like last year). You should have already turned in your money!

Dinner will include pizza/pasta/brownies/cookies and we should be done by 8:30p.

Here are the videos from the Sectional and State run-throughs. These videos are only for your personal use, to send to family and friends. They are not listed in the YouTube directory and you can only watch them if you have the links.

I ask that you don’t submit them to other “speech” websites. (You know what I mean…)

Thanks!

1) Our next team meeting is Monday, February 25th, after school!

2) If you are interested in applying for Team Captain, you must fill out this form and turn it in to Mehta (in D100) by Monday, February 25th. (Only current sophomores and juniors may apply.)

(Please include your email address somewhere in the application. I forgot to ask for it!)

3) I need your banquet money by Tuesday, February 26th. It’s $14/person (feel free to bring family members!) and checks should be made out to Wildcat Speech. You can drop the money off (in an envelope) to Mehta in D100. The banquet will take place at Tamarack Golf Club on Thursday night, March 7th.

4) I need all the scripts you used this season in every event (except limited prep). This includes novices, too! You will not be allowed to attend the banquet until I have the final version of your script! Please send them to me ASAP.

Who’s Leaving When?

Here’s the link (PDF) of who’s leaving Thursday night and who’s leaving Friday night.

If you’re leaving Thursday night, please be ready to go in the auditorium lobby at 6:15p.

If you’re leaving Friday morning, please be ready to go in the auditorium lobby at 7:15a.

I’m sorry we can’t take all of you Thursday night (*cue grumbles from angry people*) but this will work best for everyone involved. Thanks for understanding! We’ll see each other Friday afternoon before the tournament 🙂
