McVey 11/7-11/11

Great Tournament SATURDAY!  Congrats to everyone who broke and our Captains/Category leaders who did such a great job getting everyone ready!  Yeah Wildcat SpeechTeam 🙂

If Saturday’s competitors have time – could you bring in your critiques Monday or Tuesday?  I will copy them and give them right back to you.  I will follow up with written feedback OR we can meet Friday.

Okay – so I am going to try and cram all 12 sessions into Monday and Tuesday because I have P/T conference until 8:30 on Wednesday and Thursday.  I can only remember one prescheduled time that I agreed to – if you can’t make it during one of the times listed, email me and I will see if I can work something out.  Perhaps we could meet on Friday either at school or at the 95th street library.

La Scola: Week of 11/7 to 11/11

  • I need to see categories this week due to Parent/Teacher conferences Wednesday and Thursday.
  • My focus will be on the varsity members since they will be performing for the first time this week.
  • Category leaders— please make sure you are working with novices as much as time allows. Since students are off  Thursday and Friday, that would be a good time to schedule time to meet at a nearby Starbucks or a someone’s house for rehearsals.
  • Finally, be memorized — Not enough people have been memorized and there is no excuse for that at this point. BE MEMORIZED. Are you feeling my hint here?!
  • If you performed on Saturday, bring your critiques.

WEEK OF Nov. 7 – Nov.11
We have a whacky week what with parent teacher conferences and Veteran’s Day so pay close attention to what is happening with rehearsals. We are meeting as categories this week. *BUT* we are meeting as category buddies. Check out the schedule to see what I mean. We will use this time to look at critiques, hear from the varsity members that went to go see the novices, and have some general discussions on how to practice WELL.

Alright, folks. We’re getting ready to blast into the Wild Blue Yonder of competitive speaking. To get you Speech-tronauts ready, I want to see the rookies. Also, most of you varsity folks are waiting on scripts.

Category leaders. Don’t make these novices meet with you this week. If you want to see them. Come to the rehearsal they signed up for.

N.B. There are exactly 18 slots that I’m available, and I need to see the 8 you twice each. All but two slots should be filled.

Information About Novice Night and Parent Night

The details for next Tuesday’s Novice Night and Parent Night:

  • The event takes place from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1st in C202.
  • 5:45 p.m. Varsity members should show up wearing I’m-competing-in-a-Tournament clothing. We need you to model the right things to wear!
  • 6:00 p.m. All team members should be here at this time. (Novices can wear normal clothing.)
  • 7:00 p.m. Parents should arrive and join us in C202. (Varsity members’ parents are not required to attend but they are welcome to join us if they’d like to learn more about Speech Team!)
  • 8:00 p.m. We will be finished!
