Reminder

Any member of the team not working with a varsity team member will be signing up for time slots Sunday morning at 9:00.

All the information will be on the site. Remember to sign up with the right coach — see this posting for more information!

Some of you have been asking me how many rehearsals you should be having or which coach you should be meeting with next week.

Here is the rehearsal schematic for next week (PDF). If there’s a 1 next to your name, it means you have one 30-minute block next week. If there’s a 2 next to your name, it means you have two 30-minute blocks next week.

If you’re a novice, you should be meeting with your Category Leader.

Varsity members will be signing up on the website Sunday morning.

  • Congratulations on making the team!
  • You must read this packet (PDF). It explains the activity fee and contains a sheet you must turn in. Ms. La Scola must have the signed-form and the activity fee by Friday, Oct 22nd.
  • You must turn in a health form. Don’t have one? See Ms. La Scola in B100. We must have these in by Friday, Oct 22nd.
  • Have you met your Category Leader yet? The lower two novice strings in our roster (PDF) will be working with them exclusively and it’s up to your CL to figure out when that will be. By this weekend, everyone should know exactly what to research or how to find a piece. By next week, you should be working on your pieces!
  • For the top 3 strings, rehearsal sign-ups with coaches will take place Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. on this site. If you’ve commented already, you’re good to go!
  • Look at the Google Calendar in the sidebar! There are important dates to be found — make sure you have them written down somewhere. Arrange your schedule as necessary so you are available. The first non-regular meeting will be Monday night, November 1st — everyone must be ready to go at 5:00 p.m. More information will be forthcoming.

The team has been posted here!

Nearly 100 students tried out and we had to whittle that number down by quite a bit. Congratulations to everyone who made it and many thanks to everyone who tried out. It’s never easy choosing from so many of you, and if you didn’t make it, we hope you will consider trying out again next year.

Our first meeting will take place on Tuesday afternoon at 2:45 in B104. This meeting is mandatory — if there are any problems with attending, you *must* contact Mr. Mehta.

In the meantime, if you are on the team, we need to make sure you are registered on this website so you can eventually sign up for rehearsal times.

All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, using your real name and your regular email address. (You don’t need to fill in the website line.)

Just leave the comment, “I can’t wait to practice,” and I’ll approve you ASAP.

Thanks for your cooperation and congratulations!

Since some of you have asked, the posting of this year’s team will occur on Friday night. If you check this site between 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., you should see the list sometime then!

Best of luck to everyone auditioning.

At the informational meetings, we discussed an Orientation Packet that students must read before they audition.

Here is that packet (PDF).

Please read through it carefully! Bring the final page, completely filled out, on the day of your audition.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact any of the coaches!

Speech Camp Info!

If you were hesitant to join the State-hosting Neuqua Valley Speech Camp, fearing that it was too late to sign up, have no fear!

There is still room for Speechies for the Neuqua Valley Speech Camp!

For both novices and returning members, you will learn the general aspects of public speaking as well as the finer points of one of the 14 categories that you have chosen. Work, connect, and learn from the team coaches and captains to get the inside knowledge of public speaking.

From the research-based public address categories to the quick-thinking limited preparation categories, from the serious, dramatic acting to humorous, comedic acting, you will choose which of the 14 categories that fits you personally to master!

From Mon, Aug. 9th to Fri, Aug. 13th.  8 am~11am. $175 @ Neuqua Valley High School.

For the info packet/enrollment/questions, please contact one of the captains or Mr. Mehta, the head coach, as listed in contact info.
