Hello All:

It was great to see all my categories this week, but the time is now to get these pieces performance ready. With that said, I need all my category leaders to get the novices ready for the DGN Meet on 11/3, which means memorization, emotion, and platform work (for SOS).

Below is the list of people I want to see this week, so each person needs to sign up for one time slot. Please make sure you don’t double book a time; the person who reserved first gets that time slot. I want to ‘see’ what you are planning for the season, even if you are not completely memorized. We need to work this week!

McVey Category Meetings

We will meet as categories this week. I want to meet with each group for 30-40 minutes. I want to hear what you have ready to go, what you need help with and just basically how you are doing.

Please plan on meeting me in the D hallway – I am not sure which room, I will try to grab a conference room. I can meet during the following times – talk amongst yourselves and the category leaders should grab a slot and sign up for one of the times below:

See you all later this week!

Wednesday 4 – 4:45 – INFO

Friday 3:30 – 4:15 – OO

Hello and welcome to the speech season 2012-13

As I have already communicated to category leaders, I will be meeting with full categories this week for three reasons:

1) To see how novices are preparing for the DGN meet in two weeks (yeah, it’s that close)
2) To see how both novices and varisty members are coming along with script writing or script cutting
3) To learn all the new team members and see the returnees faces too

If you need the packet, here is the first part (PDF)!

And here is the health form (PDF).

We need these or you can’t compete!

Three Quick Things

1) You should’ve received an email from Mehta. If you didn’t, leave a comment here and let us know!

2) Turn in your health forms and activity fees to La Scola ASAP! We have very few forms at the moment!

3) Our next meeting, a brief one, will be Tuesday after school in D219. See you then!

The team has been posted here (PDF)!

Congratulations to everyone who made it and many thanks to everyone who tried out. It’s never easy choosing from so many of you, and if you didn’t make it, we hope you will consider trying out again next year.

Our first meeting will take place on Monday afternoon at 2:45p in D219. This meeting is mandatory — if there are any problems with attending, you *must* contact Mr. Mehta.

In the meantime, if you are on the team, we need to make sure you are registered on this website so you can eventually sign up for rehearsal times. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, using your real name and your regular email address. (You don’t need to fill in the website line.)

Just leave the comment “Save the drama for the llama!” and I’ll approve you ASAP.

Thanks for your cooperation and congratulations to everyone!

Thanks, Everyone!

A big thank you to all of you who auditioned this week!

We will be posting the new team roster on this site at 8:00p Friday night. Come check out the site at that time! We wish you the best of luck.

To those who don’t make the team this year, we hope you consider trying out again next year. With over 100 auditioners, this process is never easy, and we really appreciate your willingness to put yourself out there.

For anyone interested in auditioning for the Speech Team this year, here is the Audition Packet (PDF)!

Download it. Read it. Love it.

New members must bring The Form (Page 8, completely filled out) on the day of auditions.

Returning members must bring The Form and The Extended Form (Pages 8-9, completely filled out) on the day of auditions.

Care to see videos of people performing in the different categories? Links are here and here 🙂

For anyone interested in attending the Neuqua Valley Speech Team Summer Camp, you can download the application here (PDF)!

The camp is for current team members, incoming freshmen, and anyone else interested in learning more about public speaking.

A few things to note:

  • The camp will take place August 6th-10th from 8:00-11:00a
  • The activities at camp will change from the past. We’re still working out the exact details, but rest assured these changes will benefit everybody!
  • The cost is $175 and all checks should be made out to Wildcat Speech.
  • If you are interested in attending, please let me know ahead of time so I can get the appropriate amount of materials.

The date for banquet is set for Tuesday, April 10th from 6:00 – 9:00p. It’ll take place at Tamarack Golf Club (just like last year).

The cost will be $13/person (that includes a pizza/pasta/brownies/cookies buffet) and you’re welcome to bring family members. Checks should be made out to Wildcat Speech. Please return your checks to La Scola in B100 — we must have your money in by Friday, March 23th.

We tried to accommodate as many people as we could! My apologies if you have a conflict that night.
