Here is the information you need for Saturday’s tournaments at Thornton and Plainfield North! Keep reading for Open House information!

Who’s going where?

The tentative roster can be seen here. Please let me know if there are any problems!

When will it end?

Thornton: We should be home around 7:00p.

Plainfield North: We should be home around 5:00p.

Extemp and Radio?

Thornton: ES and RS will both prep once for prelims and again for finals. One of the rounds will be double-judged.

Plainfield North: Extemp and Radio will prep once at the tournament (and again in finals).

What time should you be at Neuqua?

Thornton: Bus leaves at 5:30a. Yes, that’s early. Be there earlier.

Plainfield North: Bus leaves at 6:30a. Be there earlier.

On Monday, we will NOT have a regular team meeting after school. We will, however, have our annual Open House for family and friends!

Who?

All of you! This is required for all Speech members (unless you have spoken to me already). Family members and friends are encouraged to attend!

When?

Monday, November 21.

Speech team members should arrive in the auditorium at 5:00p for pictures. Dress in Speech attire! Look good!

Family members and friends should arrive by 5:15p for a welcome and announcements!

Performances begin promptly at 5:30p.

At 7:00p, we will move to the auditorium for special performances. We should be done before 8:00p.

What should you bring?

If you are in the following categories, you should bring snacks (cookies, chips, brownies, muffins, etc): DDA, DI, HDA, HI, OC, POE, PR

If you are in the following categories, you should bring drinks (juice, soda): EXT, DEC, INFO, OO, SOS

If you are in the following category, you should bring cups: Imp

If you are in the following category, you should bring napkins: RS

With the first tournament under our shiny black belts we move ever forward into the dark winter mornings. Usually there is snow for Thorton, fingers crossed!

Who’s going?

When will it end?

Wheaton North: We should be home around 6:30p.

DGS: We should be home around 3:30p. (There is no final round.)

Extemp and Radio?

Wheaton North: Extemp will prep twice at the tournament. Radio will prep at home the day before. Both events will prep again for finals.

DGS: Extemp will prep three times at the tournament. Radio will prep at home the day before.

What time should you be at Neuqua?

Wheaton North: Bus leaves at 6:30a. Be there early!

DGS: Bus leaves at 7:00a. Be there early!

2) A girl left boots at the tournament. Mehta has them.

3) Someone left a copy of The House on Mango Street at the tournament. Mehta has it.

4) Someone left some money in the bleachers. Mehta has it. (If no one claims it, it will go in the Speech account.)

Bear in mind the reduced schedule this week.

Working with an un-memorized piece is like watching a square roll down a hill. It goes slow, nothing really happens, and I get bored. Almost a month after auditions memorization is a must.

This weekend novices head off to DGS and varsity partake in Wheaton North, our first tournament of the year. Novices must be ready!!! But a number of varsity are competing as well. The season is under way!

Congrats on getting the first novice meet under your belts (well, a few varsity too!).

Due to the wack-a-doo schedule with school this week, I will meet with full categories, with the priorities on the varsity members who will be at their first meet this week. If the novices would like to attend, the more eyes on varsity peeps, the better.

All varsity members need to be as memorized as possible; after all, you will be the people who have to perform on Saturday 🙂
