To all team members — The State tournament begins in less than a month and the Regional Team must be chosen soon. We can send one person in each event, but Performance in the Round (PIR) is a chance for several students to be part of our Regional Team even if they’re not at the top of their individual event.

Lietz and La Scola will be picking the cast soon and starting rehearsals later this week.

What is PIR? It’s a 15-minute play you put on for judges. Rounds work just like regular tournaments, with three judges ranking you… except you only perform once!

We need to know if you’d like to be considered for the cast.

A couple things to keep in mind:

  • Telling us you’d like to be considered for PIR does not mean you will automatically *be* on the PIR team. We’ll see who’s interested, what parts we need to fill, and choose the cast from there.
  • We will only be looking at team members who will be free for 2-3 rehearsals per week as well as the first three Saturdays in February (for the tournaments)! If you have any conflicts with those Saturdays, we cannot consider you. We’re looking for talented people who give off positive energy — it doesn’t matter if you’re a freshman novice or a senior varsity member. We’ll consider anyone interested.
  • If you are chosen for the PIR cast, understand that you CANNOT go to Regionals in your individual event(s). This means it’s possible that talented team members will give up being considered for PIR for a shot at the top seed in their event… but eventually end up *not* being chosen in it, thus leaving them off the Regional Team entirely. While that’s always very disappointing, it’s unfortunately a tough decision that some of you will have to make.
  • Being part of this cast means that you will accompany the state finalists to Peoria (regardless of how you do). It’s a privilege to be chosen for the cast, and it’s a terrific way to compete in the postseason.

Still interested? 🙂

If you are, you must email Mehta by 8:00p Tuesday night and tell me you want to be considered! No exceptions.

Feel free to email me any questions, too.
